connectivity

Setting the standards in connectivity and data centres

We appreciate that connectivity is critical for any of our customers, and that’s exactly why we have invested and built an exclusive, international private network, linking all our data centre sites, and the Internet. We have partnered with leading local and international carriers and Tier 1 global IP providers, to ensure optimal performance and service delivery. We can now truly provide you with unmatched connectivity options, both at our data centres and beyond.

Do you want unparalleled connectivity across leading carriers?  The benefits of this are numerous, including:

  • Use of a managed, private network, designed as a fully protected, dual-homed, high-speed network, linking all BMIT facilities in Malta, Italy and Germany
  • Access to at least 60Gbps of Internet connectivity, a result of our close collaboration with Colt Technologies and Telia Carrier
  • Protection offered via our multi-tiered, industry leading DDOS protection and mitigation solution
  • Greater choice, flexibility, network resilience, cost-saving and speed to market

Power

Up to 7.2kW of customer power per rack
Rack power is delivered via two distinct feeds
UPS system with 2N redundancy
At least 15 mins of UPS battery autonomy at full load.
2 x Generators with 2N redundancy
148 hours of generator power autonomy (36 hours of onsite storage)

Cooling

A strong HVAC system which safeguards:
Stable airflow
Temperature and humidity control
Uses row-based cooling units.
Chilled water medium to improve efficiency.
Redundant A & B cooling systems and pipe work route to the rooftop condenser system and 2N+2 pump system to circulate chilled water to the data centre.
Minimum 2N redundancies for all major equipment
Hot aisle/cold aisle zone design, with the possibility of closed cold corridors
Room design temperature within ASHRAE Class 1 specifications
External temperature design: 42 degrees C

Fire Detection and Suppression

Very Early Smoke Detection and Alarms (VESDA) coupled with multi-zoned smoke detectors
Multi-zoned Argonite fire suppression system that kicks into action immediately on smoke or fire detection.
Fully addressable, 2-stage, fire detection system that monitors both rooms and under-floors.

Physical Security

Security is one of our foremost concerns, and highlevel security equipment and procedures are in place at all times and across all our data centres. Measures include:

Monitoring and CCTV recording throughout the buildings, including in customer care areas, with all access points constantly controlled
Visitor screening, with identities verified and individuals escorted to the appropriate locations
Access history recordings, which are kept for customer audits when requested or required.

Power

A multi-tiered system is in place to maximise uptime availability at BMIT, and our redundant rack power is delivered via two distinct feeds. Each is further secured by an N+1 Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system, which prevents against brownouts, surges and power spikes, as well as an N+1 generator setup to protect against utility failure.

Cooling

A strong HVAC system which safeguards:

Stable airflow
Temperature and humidity control
Minimum N+2 redundancies for all major equipment.

Fire Detection and Suppression

Each data centre area has a multi-zoned FM-200 or Argonite fire suppression system that kicks into action the second smoke or fire is detected. Fire detection is carried out through multi-zoned smoke detectors coupled with Very Early Smoke Detection and Alarm (VESDA) systems.
